Back Pain | ComprehensivePainManagementCenter.comWhether you have recently suffered an injury or have begun to experience some twinges in your back, take advantage of this early warning sign. Even if you have not yet experienced back pain, be aware that this is one of the most common problems that send people to the doctor’s office. There are several things you can do to start avoiding back pain from putting a stop to those activities that you love.

One of the most effective ways to start avoiding back pain is to maintain a healthy weight. That spare tire puts a strain on your back and will aggravate even a small amount of pain. If you are more than a few pounds over your ideal weight, take steps to lose that extra load.

There are plenty of reasons to exercise on a daily basis. Reducing or preventing back pain is just one of many. While many people are tempted to reduce their activity, moderate exercise is a much more effective way to ease the pain. This is because the physical activity reduces muscle tension and inflammation.

Next, watch your posture. Whether you are sitting, standing, or even lying down, your posture can either increase or decrease your pain. Try to keep your back straight with some lumbar support when you are sitting. If you spend a lot of time standing, try to rest one foot and then the other every few minutes. Even your posture while driving can have a strong effect on your back. Avoid pain by maintaining the right posture.

The right nutrition can also affect whether or not you experience back pain. There are vital nutrients that support the health of your back. Calcium, vitamins A, B12, C, D, and K are all good for your back. So are iron and magnesium. If you smoke you may be restricting the flow of blood to the spinal discs, so consider quitting.

Many people suffer from back pain at some point during their lives. You do not have to be one of those sufferers. Take steps today to ensure that you and your back are as healthy as possible. With these tips, you’ll be able to effectively start avoiding back pain.
